Asbestos Removal Melbourne Northern Suburbs
Another asbestos removal Melbourne northern suburbs project complete! We got a call last week to remove asbestos walls from a bungalow and garage in Thomastown.
The premises is an investment property and the owner is planning on releasing it on the market for lease after undergoing some revamps to the house including the backyard.
We removed the asbestos external walls and decontaminated both the bungalow and garage structure leaving it ready for re-cladding. See some of our other similar projects here.
Asbestos in Investment Properties
Asbestos-containing materials are not generally risky until they are disturbed, damaged or deteriorated. However, in saying so overtime the asbestos materials are exposed to many different weather conditions and can then easily break or deteriorated leaving a high risk to serious health problems such as lung cancer, asbestosis, and mesothelioma.
A tenant can ask for more information about asbestos in the property before signing the rental agreement. A landlord is not required to have this information and therefore it may not be known that asbestos is found in the property.
If a rented property is in a state of disrepair to the extent that, for example, a wall is in poor condition and is of an age that it could contain asbestos, it should be checked for asbestos and if present, treated as an urgent repair. For more information about asbestos in rentals click here.
