Asbestos Removal Melbourne Northern Suburbs
We completed an asbestos removal Melbourne northern suburbs project last week which required us to remove asbestos from a number of different areas within and around the home. This involved removing asbestos from:
- Sectioned walls in kitchen area.
- Sectioned walls in bathroom area.
- Outdoor toilet ceiling & internal walls.
- Old hot water service flue.
- Entire bungalow internal walls & ceiling.
Our client is in the process of demolishing the house. One of the first steps when demolishing a house is ensuring all asbestos is completely removed by a licensed professional before any demolition can occur.
Prior to the 1980s, asbestos was heavily used in home heating systems. Asbestos was used to manufacture chimney/heater/boiler & hot water service flues, furnaces as well as wood-burning stoves. For more information on asbestos used in heating system products click here.
Demolishing a home with asbestos
If your home was built between the 1920’s to 1980’s, you can suspect that there may be asbestos in there. Even if your house was built after the 80’s prior to the 2000’s, you should still take caution and check for asbestos prior to any demolition or renovation works.
A common mistake in demolition and renovation projects is starting the works and accidentally coming across asbestos. We receive numerous calls weekly from clients telling us that they started demolishing their bathroom or kitchen and have either found asbestos or have accidentally broken a material product with a warning asbestos sticker on it.
Although this is quite a stressful scenario to come across, Southstar Asbestos Removal Melbourne have gained countless experience in dealing with emergency situations where we have acted proactively in removing asbestos and broken asbestos in the middle of a renovation or demolition project. Check out one of our emergency projects here.
In our recent project, we did find some broken asbestos, however, fortunately there were no home owners or tenants living at the property. All the asbestos has been completely removed and our valued client is ready for the next steps in his demolition project!
