Do you need a licence to perform asbestos removal and disposal? An individual can conduct a limited amount of asbestos removal work without a licence for asbestos-containing material less than 10sqm. Although this is a fact, there are a number of things to consider in terms of the correct method of asbestos disposal. The asbestos material must be disposed of at a waste disposal site licensed by the Environment Protection Authority Victoria (EPA). Transporting asbestos for correct disposal must also ensure that it is transported in a way that eliminates the release of airborne asbestos fibres.
One of our recent small projects located in Diamond Creek required the removal and disposal of an old external toilet. The old structure containing asbestos external and internal walls were completely demolished leaving the concrete floor for the client’s project.
While unlicensed removal of asbestos is permitted, it is generally not recommended as the safer option is for a licensed asbestos removalist to perform the removal work. For more information on asbestos removal work, click here.
